Evening Presentations
In those months when we are not holding a conference, TISS organizes evening presentations. We traditionally meet at 6:45 pm over desserts and coffee in Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill. The social "hour" is followed by a talk and discussion lasting until around 9 pm. The speakers are sometimes local faculty members who talk about their current research and sometimes nationally and internationally renowned scholars and practitioners. Among our speakers over the years have numbered such individuals as General Richard Meyers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Jeremy Black, world-renowned military historian, and Tom Ricks of the Washington Post. Summaries of evening presentations are included in the annual newsletters.
