Why You Need a Duke Public Policy Intern

Every office has a program that needs a critical review, a new initiative that needs a jumpstart or a project that needs fresh eyes. With just a little effort, you can get these tasks done while providing valuable experience to a Duke master’s degree candidate (MPP) or undergraduate Public Policy Studies (PPS) major. Our students are enthusiastic, well prepared and eager to contribute to the success of your organization. Other pluses:

  • It’s a three-month job interview. Many organizations make full-time offers to interns at the end of the summer. With the tough competition for our best students, it gives you a chance to both evaluate the student and convince them you’d be a great employer.
  • It’s a great way to advertise your organization on campus. Your interns can be your ambassadors, and word-of-mouth is the best value in advertising!
  • It’s a low-stress process. The Sanford School has full-time staff to work with students and employers to make sure these short experiences are useful to both parties. We can help you design your internship to get the best applicants, and we are available throughout the summer if issues or problems arise.
